New Attractions at Award-winning Country Park (March 2016)

Moors Valley Country Park and Forest is already home to a miniature steam railway, Go Ape, tree top trail, golf and miles of trails and cycle routes. Now Moors Valley is adding archery and hawk walks to its busy event programme.

Suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience, archery sessions begin on 28 March and then run on various dates until the end of August. You can book one hour slots at 9.30am, 10.30am and 4pm or just turn up between noon and 4pm on the same dates to try your hand with 10 arrows for £3.50. Hawk Walks is another new arrival at Moors Valley. On this intimate falconry experience you‘ll be able to enjoy the thrill of walking with free-flying Harris hawks (Parabuteo unicinctus), learning about these extraordinary birds and the ancient art of falconry as you recall the hawk to your fist.

Led by a full-time falconer with over 30 year’s experience this is a unique opportunity to  spend time with these astonishing birds which can fly at speeds of up to 50 miles an hour. To book call Hawks in the Forest on 07954 522843.

Moors Valley is also adding to its Season Ticket options this Easter to help more people who regularly visit the Park save money. The Park already offers three types of season ticket for visitors coming at ‘all hours’, those who are ‘early risers and late-comers’ or who like to visit during ’quiet times’. Within these three categories people can then opt for a season ticket which applies to either one car or two cars registered at the same address, which go to the Park at the same time. From Easter, the Park is extending this option so that two cars registered at the same address can visit the Park under the same season ticket provided only one is at Moors Valley at any point in time.

“Many of our visitors are regulars coming daily to walk dogs, enjoy family time after school, or attend activity programmes,” said Team Leader Clare Gronow.  “With the addition of this new option we have tried to structure our Season Tickets to ensure there is an option for everyone, ensuring that the wide range of attractions and facilities at Moors Valley represent even greater value for money”.
