Moors Valley Railway is open on weekends and Dorset school holidays throughout the year, and daily from June to mid-September.

June – July – 11am – 4pm Monday – Friday, 10.45am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday
August – September 10.45am – 5pm

Moors Valley Railway
At Kingsmere station you can visit the model railway shop and the railway buffet for drinks and snacks.
To date, there are 19 steam and 2 diesel locomotives in use on the railway. The majority of the engines have been built here in the workshop at Moors Valley. All the steam trains are fueled by coal.
Seats on the railway carriages must be straddled. Staff are on hand to assist someone in and out of a railway carriage. Please speak to the railway direct to find out about the suitability of the carriages but unfortunately, the railway cannot accommodate a wheelchair. Pushchairs and wheelchairs can be left on the station platform. Steam locomotives emit smoke, steam, and ash and also have loud whistles.

Ticket Prices
Please note: At quiet times the Lakeside Station is not manned and therefore only round trips will be available. Group discounts are available, however groups of 20 people or more must book in advance. Both stations accept payment by cash or credit/debit card.

Footplate Experience
Have you always wanted to drive a steam engine? Our Footplate Experience Course is perfect. A one day course on preparing and driving a steam locomotive with lunch and refreshments included, as well as a special train ride for up to six guests. The course costs £249 per person, or receive a 10% discount when two people book together. Minimum age 18 yrs.
