Cycle Hire
Follow waymarked cycle routes, make your own route along the many miles of gravel tracks or explore beyond the boundaries of Moors Valley. Mountain bikes in all sizes along with trailers, tag-a-longs and child seats are available to hire every day of the year (except 25th Dec).
We have a large fleet of adults bikes and a good selection of child bikes in various sizes, plus child seats, trailers and tag-a-longs.
It is not possible to reserve bikes in advance; they are available on a first come first served basis.
Bike locks are available to hire from the Cycle Hire Centre for a £1 charge and £15 deposit.
Attachments
Please note – Attachments can only be used with a Moors Valley hire bike.
Tagalongs:
Suggested suitable height is 3ft 9in to 4ft 11in (115cm-150cm).
Maximum weight is 5 stone (32kg / 70.5lb)
Trailers:
Minimum age for trailers is 12 months
Maximum weight for trailers is 7 stone (44.5kg / 98lb).
A maximum of 2 children can be seated in the trailer, with seat belts.
Child seats:
Minimum age for child seats is 9 months.
Maximum weight for child seats is 2 stone (12.7kg / 28lb).
Where a weight or minimum age is indicated these are manufacturer’s guidelines and must be adhered to. Heights are advisory. Cycle Hire staff reserve the right to refuse a hire on the grounds of safety e.g. if a child does not demonstrate adequate balance on a tagalong or cannot reach the pedals.
Child and adult bikes are priced according to size/height.
Please note – Moors Valley hire bikes must not be used at Watchmoor Bike Park.
Opening Times
Open daily from 9.30am (closed Christmas Day).
Last hire time varies throughout the year. All bikes must be back 1 hour after the last hire time.
Saturday 27th May 2023 – Thursday 31st August 2023 – 5.00pm
Friday 1st September 2023 – Sunday 29th October 2023 – 4.00pm
Monday 30th October 2023 – Monday 1st January 2024 – 3.30pm
Deposit
£10.00 deposit per 4 bikes.
Requirements
Proof of identity is essential (photo ID card, such as driving licence).
Please be aware that loss or damage to any cycle or trailer is the hirer’s responsibility and any damages must be paid for.

Please note: price of hiring trailers, tag-a-longs and child seats does not include hire of the bicycle. Child seats, trailers and tag-alongs can be only fitted to hire bikes i.e. cannot be fitted to your own bikes.

- Ride carefully when you pass
Stay safe
- Carry a snack and drink and take a mobile phone if you have one
- Wearing a helmet will reduce the risk of head injury
- Wear sensible clothing and footwear, especially in the winter or bad weather
- Always follow warning signs
