Pond Dipping

Event Details

Dates: Every Tuesday from 30 July – 27 August 2024

Time: 10:30 am to 11:15 am, and 11:30am – 12:15pm

Age: Suitable for children aged 4 and above

Price: £3.00 per child (children must be accompanied by an adult. Ratio of 1 adult for up to 3 children.)

Dogs: No dogs please except guide dogs and assistance dogs

What To Expect

Join our knowledgeable ranger for an exciting guided pond dipping session. Armed with nets, you’ll explore the pond and uncover a variety of fascinating creatures. Previous finds have included:

  • Newts
  • Diving beetles
  • Raft spiders
  • Pond snails

How it works:

  1. Meet on patio at the back of the Visitor Centre.
  2. Learn about pond life during a brief demonstration.
  3. Take turns using nets to catch creatures and study them in trays.
  4. Our rangers will help identify the different species using a simple key.
