Pond Dipping

Come and see what you can net in a guided pond dipping session with the rangers.

Event Details

Dates: Every Thursday from 7 to 28 August 2025

Time: 10.30am to 11:15 am, and 11.45am to 12.30pm

Age: Suitable for children aged 4 and above

Price: £4 per child (children must be accompanied by an adult. Ratio of 1 adult for up to 3 children)

Dogs: No dogs please except guide dogs and assistance dogs

What To Expect

Join our knowledgeable ranger for an exciting guided pond dipping session. Armed with nets, you’ll explore the pond and uncover a variety of fascinating creatures.

Previous finds have included:

  • Pond snails
  • Newts
  • Diving beetles
  • Raft spiders

How it works:

  1. Meet on patio at the back of the Visitor Centre.
  2. Learn about pond life during a brief demonstration.
  3. Take turns using nets to catch creatures and study them in trays.
  4. Our rangers will help identify the different species using a simple key.
