Countryside Mobility Scheme

Moors Valley is part of ‘Countryside Mobility South West’ – a scheme working to improve access to the countryside for people with limited mobility.

Please be aware, for the safety of our visitors and staff our guidance below may change at short notice. Please keep checking this page for updates.

Pre-booking is essential.

Countryside Mobility Scheme Membership

Weā€™ve partnered with Countryside Mobility (a charity initiative, operated by Living Options) to offer all-terrain mobility scooter (ā€œTramperā€) hire.

Trampers are safe and easy to use, even if youā€™ve never needed to use a scooter before. All first-time users will be provided with a short introduction to how the Tramper works to ensure you feel safe and confident and an explanation of where you can safely go based on auditing by Countryside Mobility.

On completion of this, youā€™ll become a member of Countryside Mobility. This provides insurance coverage and acts like a driving license, giving access to Trampers across theirĀ network of 50+ beauty spots around the South West and Wales. Locally this includesĀ Avon Heath Country Park,Ā Durlston Country Park,Ā Arne Nature ReserveĀ andĀ Holton Lee.

There are two types of membership available:

  • Annual membership costs Ā£15.00 and is valid for 12 months.
  • Temporary membership costs Ā£5 and is valid for 2 weeks. Temporary membership is ideal if you are just visiting the area or if you just want to try a Tramper but it can also be upgraded to Annual Membership after your initial visit.

Single use costs Ā£3 and is valid for a maximum of 4 hours.

To register your membership at Moors Valley please report to the Cycle Hire Centre at the Visitor Centre and bring along the following items:

  • Photo ID (Photo driving licence, Blue Badge, bus pass, passport).
  • Proof of address (Utility bill, bank statement, credit card bill, council tax bill)
  • The appropriate membership fee ā€“ payment can be made by cash or credit/debit card

You will keep a copy of your membership form to use as proof of Temporary Membership. If you have applied to become an annual member then you will receive a Welcome Pack and your membership card from the Countryside Mobility Scheme as soon as possible. If you join as a Temporary Member you will be sent a Temporary Member Welcome Pack and an ā€˜upgradeā€™ form should you wish to become an Annual Member within six weeks of doing the training.

Save time on arrival, by checking Countryside Mobilityā€™s medical requirements and general terms of use and watching the introductory video. Please note: If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must provide photo ID and accompany you for the Tramper Training and at each site visit.

Availability

We have two Trampers available to hire from 9.30 am until 4.30 pm (later in the summer).

We advise you to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made using our online booking system or by phoning the rangers on 01425 470721. A time slot can be reserved and you must arrive at the allotted start time for your hire or you may lose the hire.

Anyone wishing to use a Tramper must be over the age of 14 and become a member of Countryside Mobility so that you are covered byĀ the schemeā€™s insurance policy.Ā Please note that for safety and insurance reasons some medical conditions or health issues mean that unfortunately, not everyone will be able to join the scheme. Please refer to theĀ Medical and Health Information and Terms and ConditionsĀ to check that the scheme and equipment are suitable for you ā€“ you are the best judge of your own ability.

Hire Procedure

For new members ā€“ Head to the Cycle Hire Centre to complete your membership form. You will then be asked to undertake a short training and familiarisation session to make sure you are happy with all the Tramper functions and controls.
For returning members ā€“ Simply show your card/membership form at the Cycle Hire Centre, fill in a hire form and be on your way straight away!

Hire Charges

The Trampers at Moors Valley are currently available to use free of charge, once you have joined the membership scheme. Donations to help with the maintenance of the Trampers are very welcome.

Please be aware, that charges may apply at other sites in the area which are part of the Countryside Mobility Scheme.
