Autumn

Autumn is a wonderful time of change, with beautiful colours, cold crisp days and fantastic fungi.

Get into Autumn

Children will learn why some trees loose their leaves and others don't, make their own leaf identification chart to take away and learn how animals survive the winter months.

Wrap up, tuck up or fly away
All animals have individual survival plans for the winter; some hibernate, others migrate and some stay awake to face the conditions. We will demonstrate just how hard these animals work by doing fun experiments.

Trees and Colours
We will first look at the differences between coniferous and deciduous trees, children will learn how to identify different trees looking at leaf shape and bark, then celebrate the wonders of autumn on our tree walk; collecting leaves to make a colour palette and identification chart.

Fantastic Fungi
Yellow brain jelly, antler and fly agaric are just some fungi found here at Moors Valley. The children will learn basic identification skills then head off on our fungi bingo walk.
