Track and Signs

For every young nature detective! Wildlife spotting can be very hard work especially when most of our animals don't want to be seen. However, we always know they are present because of all the clues and messages left behind: food, faeces and footprints.

Animal tracks
Did you know you can tell which way a deer is travelling just by looking at it's footprints? Children will be able to track deer and look out for signs of other animals which live in a woodland.

Sherlock Bones
Whose skeliton is whose? Children will learn about different animal skulls, seeing how each one has adapted to suit its diet and habitat.

Poo and Pellets
All animals have different shaped poo, depending on their diet. Owl pellets tell a story of what it has had for dinner and show how the species is cleverly adapted to dispose of unwanted food remains.
